There are different types of microscopes available in the market today. One of the many types of microscopes is clinical microscopes. Know what they are and the different types it has.
Clinical microscopes are the type of microscopes used in laboratory settings. These are the microscopes used in research because they are very powerful and has enhanced features. Clinical microscopes are the ones you see inside hospitals and health care clinics. More often than not the people who use them are physicians, laboratory technicians, and medical students.
Clinical microscopes can produce quality images of biological specimens, both for diagnostic and histology purposes. High quality clinical microscopes are equipped with bright field illumination systems which allows for optimal sample viewing. There are a lot of clinical microscopes that are trinocular in nature. This feature alone allows for a photography device to be attached to it in order to capture microscopic photos of the specimen.
Because clinical microscopes are complex, it has been altered and developed in such a way it can accommodate its every user’s needs. There are different types and brands of clinical microscopes. Its best types are listed below:
1. The High Power Type. There are clinical microscopes that are considered high power. When a microscope is said to be high in power, what it really means is that it has good magnification levels. And that is the feature that allows users to look at small things like blood cells, bacteria, and insect legs in all clarity.
2. The Low Power Type. Low powered microscopes, on the other hand, are only capable of viewing objects as large as a fly, a bee, stamps, coins, and sand grains. Low power microscopes are like magnifying glasses, only better. And there are very few, if they are not phased out yet, low power clinical microscopes that are being released today.
2. The Trinocular Type. Trinocular microscopes are microscopes that are binocular in nature but it has a third viewing port that stands vertically. This port can be used with another eyepiece for additional viewing option. Virtually having three ports, it is possible for two persons to view the specimen at the same time. This port is mostly used by an instructor. Or better yet, the port can be used as a place to attach either a video or a still camera for viewing in a monitor or a video system.
3. The Compound Type. There are compound clinical microscopes. These microscopes have multiple lenses, a fact that basically describes all microscopes being sold in the market today. Compound microscopes are capable of having or using a range of objective lenses so that the user can use the right one for the job. It is also possible to choose an objective lens that is capable of bringing two or three dimensional views.
4. The Dark field – Bright field Type. The dark field illumination technique is a clinical microscope technique that is used to improve the contrast of the specimen that is transparent in nature. This technique removes the need for dying the sample under observation. This feature is very important in clinical microscopes. And it is primarily because users can easily view their samples without the need for special preparation.
5. Wide field eyepiece Type. There are clinical microscopes that are equipped with an eyepiece that has a special type of lens that doesn’t limit the viewing of the specimen on the center alone. This feature allows the user to see a wider field of magnification. This feature also allows for the user’s slight head movements. Take not that if this is done with a regular microscope, the observer will definitely lose view of his specimen.
6. The Combination Type. The different kinds of clinical microscope stated above are actually the individual features, hence its types. But because of the advancements in technology today, it is very possible to combine one or more of them. In fact, there already is a high power, trinocular compound clinical microscopes available. And these considered as the best types of clinical microscopes being sold today.
Knowing the different types of clinical microscopes would allow users to be able to select which one they need for their different applications. Of course, the more complex the clinical microscope is, the higher its market value is expected to be. But because of the fierce competition nowadays, finding a clinical microscope with multiple features becomes possible. If clinical microscopes are what you need, then just make sure you get the right type that matches your requirements.
